Theoretical foundations of legitimacy and accountability in standards development organisations
Dr Arjun Banerjee
Associate Professor of Digital Governance
Dr Arjun Banerjee develops first-principles accounts of legitimacy in Internet standards development, treating protocols, procedures and participation rules as coupled governance instruments. He analyses OASIS, W3C and public-sector standardisation using institutional theory, technical documentation and comparative case design, with particular attention to accountability, representativeness and strategic positioning for civil society organisations.
